Hi Lori,
Are you a kind person? Do you a blood donor? Are you an organ donor?

No I'm, not going to ask you for a pint of blood or your kidney, just a painless donation of your old Sherwood pump body. I am assuming you are replacing, not rebuilding.

Last summer I got disgusted with losing those itty bitty cover nuts in the bilge and the little paper gaskets. So ordered a Speedseal cover for my Sherwood pump from the English company that sells it.  Loosen one knurled nut on and no gasket, just an O-ring and your in business.
They said that they that they had a lots of covers for various models, but not the one on our Universal diesels. They said send the specs and they said that they will see what they could do. I sent them a drawing and a gasket and they send me made up a kit from that. The cover came in and it was a beautiful machined piece.  But it was ever so slightly off.  I didn't want to fool with it so I sent it back and they refunded my money. Great people to work with.
In the past, several listees have said that they would be interested in a Speedseal.  If you are replacing the pump and  would  like to donate your old Sherwood pump (just the body) to the Catalina 27 community,. if you send it to me I will pay your shipping cost. I will send it to England and Speedseal will be able to make up a unit for our diesel models.

Contact me off list if you are interested.
Now about that kidney......(just kidding!)

O/T- I just started sailing in your area in Barnegat Bay on my son's,  oops-H__ter (you just can't tell kids anything) out of Forked River and am throughly impressed with the 20 knot winds you seem to get everyday. Also impressed with your boat yards which have white sand and white pebble grounds  which is kept spotless by yards and boaters alike. And a one foot tidal difference.

Subject: catalina27-talk: Water pump hoses

Hi all,

I am replacing the kaput Sherwood water pump on my Universal M2-12 diesel this weekend and need to replace the hoses as well. Any particular kind I need to use? The former intake one looks more robust (lots of wires built inside it, a bear to take off, had to cut it) than the outtake; is this normal?

Thanks for any info!
