So today I went to the boat to connect the new speed & depth transducers to the
display head... Was very happy with myself after meticoulously running the
wires and flipping the switch and seeing they worked...

However - during the long evening of work I noticed the batteries were getting
low, so I decided to run the engine for a while to charge it (I'm on a
mooring), which I did for about an hour...

Problem: after turning engine of in the quiet boat I open the engine door and
see lots of steam- I'd forgotten to open the raw water thru-hull! I look at
the engine gauges and see temperature was off the gauge (240+). I then open
the thru-hull and after letting engine cool for 45 minutes (took that long to
get to 120) I start it again and check the water flow- no luck, not a drop.

SO: did I just burn my impeller and a change will do? Did I completely fry the
water pump? Did I do even worse damage I don't know about?

Appreciate thoughts/advice on next steps...

Still can't believe I did this...

Thx,

Sebastian
