Actually, now that I think about it, the leak is from the bottom screw that holds the water pump to the engine. The cover is fine, even though it has the brown paper gasket cover.
Where did you order the speed seal cover? All I saw was some place in England.

Bob,Gee, I don't know. Is it leaking at the Cover screws or the Drain Screw ?I have an Oberdorfer Pump but I do have the M-18 service manual that has both Sherwood and Oberdorfer .. And it looks like to me that ...IF.. the leak is at the Cover Screw..I should think the Speed Seal cover would stop any leaks at the cover..The unit uses a Nitrile "O" ring that replaces the gasket. I don't know what the Sherwood material is .. but on the Ober it's a thin brown paper..The O ring is a better idea .. IMHO...There must be a bunch of Sherwood Pump users here on the list.. They can probably answer better than I..Best,ralph----- Original Message -----From: [EMAIL PROTECTED]Sent: Friday, July 14, 2006 10:51 AMSubject: Re: catalina27-talk: Ping!Ralph,I have water leaking from the bottom screw of my water pump: Sherwood on M-18. I relaced the impellor and the seals last year, but no luck. Will this new cover do anything to resolve my problem?Bob Mann
