We ha ve the same boat. Mine came with the same holes, but with a stainless bolt through them, presumable to keep the mast in place. As someone just pointed out, with the shroud tension set properly, jump out is unlikely. "Unlikely" ain't impossible, and the shroud tension may not always be set properly.

I'd put a bolt in.

Nice thing about this public letter is that if I'm wrong, we'll all be told about it.
