There should be a heavy wire connecting the negative terminals of the batteries. Another heavy wire should go from one of the negative terminals of the batteries to the engine case.   One heavy wire should go to the 1 terminal of the main switch. Another heavy wire should go to  the 2 terminal of the main switch.   A moderately heavy wire should go from the switched terminal of the main switch to the common buss of the fuse or circuit breaker system.   Bob
