On my '85, there is a thru-hull under the v-berth.  Open this to allow water to reach the head.  Setting to flush will pull in sea-water and push it into the holding tank.  Pump dry is used to empty the water from the bowl into the holding tank.  Leaving water in the bowl is not a good thing on a boat.  There will probably always be some at the very bottom of the bowl. Reset the thru-hull to closed.

As a new owner of a 1982 C-27TR, I've been slowly learning the boat. One thing I can't figure out, I think, is how to flush the head. There are two positions on the selector. One is flush, the other is pump dry. Which setting do I use. Also, water does not appear to refill the bowl. Any suggestions?
