True, true, but if the weather anything less than pretty nice, you probably should be steering yourself most of the time, or at least be in the cockpit. If you solo, a "tiller tamer" or the like would give you enough time to trim, reef, etc. Up here on Great South Bay, rain often goes with blustery, shifty wind. There is a reason that these ST auto tillers are a lot cheaper than those used on offshore boats, and a lot of that is how robust they are to the environments..

It is fast, powerful and very, very quiet. The downside is that it is not waterproof. If you sail in foul weather like I do, you'll have to take extra precautions.
