All the talk about heads has reminded me that one of my winter projects is to replace the gate valves with ball valve seacocks. I have a continuing problem with water in the oil, which I have been blaming on poor starting procedures. How hard is it to replace the valves, do they just thread off the thru-hull fitting, or is it glassed in?
Also, anybody rigged up something to make it easier to open and close the fresh water valve on the engine? I generally keep sails in the storm berth, making it a major effort to get to the access door and down into the engine compartment. I have been thinking of schemes as simple as a wire attached to the handle all the way up to electric actuators. Any good ideas out there? Thanks, Jim Reinardy C27 #4223 "Irie" Milwaukee, WI
