Hi Paul,
I have the traditional 2 rows of buttons on the hatch, but the best solution I saw was a later model Cat 27 that had a piece of wood attached under the curved mid boom traveler. The front of the dodger, which would be the equivalent of the front window, attached to the wood and allowed the hatch to slide under the dodger.  The traveler has holes for the screws that hold the wood.  The wood was beautifully curved to the underside of the traveler,  but you could use 3 separate pieces of wood.

If your dodger is not designed for this, you could do a workaround by using straps that attach to the existing buttons on the dodger and that extend to the wood under the traveler (my future project).

If you have the straight traveler, the dodger would have to be modified.

The problem with any dodger for a later model C-27's is the interference of the aft dodger straps with the winches.  Sometimes, instead of half revolution winch turns, I just consider the straps as running backstays and detach the one I need.

Hey List,

I have a question for those of you who have a doger installed on your boats. How is the sliding hatch accommodated? Where or how is the forward edge of the dodge mounted to the deck?

My boat is a 76’.

Thanks,

Paul
