Cary, The only thing we can tell you for sure is you will probably need less
halyard tension for the plastic sails than the Dacron sails.
Every thing else is specific to your boat, cut of your sails, your sailing
style, the wind conditions in your area and (to a small degree) the type and
condition of your bottom (yes, I said bottom).
Hard core racers in the J-24 class (for example) will not only tune their
rig for the conditions of the day but also change them between races as the
conditions change during the day.
Mast rake and shroud tension that works for me will almost assuredly not
work for you.
If your boat "feels" good with the Dacron sails, it will most probably work
fine with the plastic sails.
On a "make the new sails last" note, make sure all the chafe patches are
properly placed to match up with the spreaders, lifeline stanchions and any
thing else they may come into contact with. The plastic sails are more prone
to puncture/chafe than the Dacron sails.
For advanced rig tuning advice, I would make friends with a racer/ good
sailor (your sailmaker is a good start) in your area and take him/her
sailing with you.
