Did you take your Catalina 27 to Maine/Canada from Tidewater VA?  If so I am
impressed!

After just spending several days sailing Nova Scotia and crossing to Maine
(Shelburne to Portland) I'd say nothing compares to having a good radar and
chart plotter. I'd never sailed in real fog before and it was quite
unnerving to sail by radar and chart plotter alone, no point getting
adjusted to the dark and looking for lights it's thick enough the bow is
partly obscured in fog. I think you folks in Maine and New England have some
wonderful sailing destinations but it is sure a different experience from
the Chesapeake.
