I had an $80 pair of polarized glasses after a few months they started getting
white spots on them even with the lifetime guarantee I cannot find their
address. These were good but when I went to the local gas station I bought
cheap non-polarized glasses that seemed to me to work better than the expensive
pair. although I have also owned Vuarnet and Ray Ban's both were excellent but
as I said before "Ploop" is a very disturbing sound when you pay that kind of
price. I can see you point though after all conditions always change and we are
all different.

Now here's an interesting point of discussion.
I'm guessing that , as in most of our experiences, that location and water type
are likely to be different, causing different results.
And will dictate the type of sunglasses used.

I'm curious as to the variables others may face..
Time of day (sun position), Course (into the sun or down sun), Sky conditions
(clouds or sun), Surface conditions (calm or chop).

Here's the common condition on the Columbia River, in the Summer..
Afternoon, heading to sun (going to weather), Sunny, rippled surface..

Polarized glasses will .. Reduce surface sun reflection a great deal...
Allowing the sighting of Puffs (and wind shifts)...
that would be totally lost in the glare of the afternoon sun.

Since most races and day sailing is done in the afternoon, during a sunny day,
the Polarized sunglasses or prescriptions are preferred..
On cloudy/bright days.. Non-polarized are used..

Any experiences to share ?
