Phil: We just recently purchased our 270 LE. It is hull Number 90, a 1994
model. It is now at home on a trailer where we can do some updating and add a
few things. The first thing I did was remove the old shaft seal and add a PSS.
The boat had a leak in the fresh water system so have gone through the entire
system, no more leaks. Still have a problem with the hot water heater not
heating on 120 volt. I think I have a bad wire on the neutral side. Working on
that. Also had a stanchion leak and forward hatch leak. Fixed those. We live in
the northwest so they get checked regularly. We have painted the bottom and
buffed and waxed the hull. Awaiting a few more parts but hope to be ready to
splash some time next week. Sol Seeker will have a permanent slip in Olympia,
WA.

My problem with the bilge is that the pump is located in the aft state room.
The hose runs north up to the bilge where it meets a cross member running east
and west. There doesn't seem to be a way to run the bilge intake around this
cross member. There is a small hole at the bottom of the bilge allowing water
from the north side to flow slowly to the south side. The bilge switch is on
the north side and doesn't work properly due to the slow water movement. The
question is how to get the intake hose and bilge switch working together. Don't
want to cut a hole in the cross member unless it is safe to do so. I'm hoping
some one else has already worked out a solution.

Have checked out your web site and am very impressed with wing tip. We will
post some pictures of Sol Seeker once she has been updated.

We recently sold our Catalina 30 and downsized to a trailerable so we could
haul it down to Mexico and spend some winter time on the Sea of Cortez. So this
is our retirement project.

We appreciate having a 270 group to talk with and will be glad to share
information with other members.
