800 POUNDS? that's about a 30% increase in ballast! Not only would it
change the
entire Centre of Gravity on the bote, it'd massively increase the moment
of inertia, such
that pitching in any sort of a sea-state would be increased markedly.
Frank Butler et al. did a great job of designing these boats and, aside
from tweaking things like fairing those
lumpy keels and adding some sail-handling hardware and doo-dads in various
places, I would do zilch to change the displacement characteristics.
