One point that has barely been mentioned is stabilizing this weight.  In a
knockdown shifting 800 lbs of extra ballast might prove a hazard.  Not to
mention I wonder what damage a sizable chunk of lead would do to what got in
its way in such circumstances... 

I have to wonder how poor your performance is with 4 people (sizable adults
I guess)in the cockpit.  Are you racing?  If not, is the added cost, hazard,
etc, worth the questionable added performance?
