Hey, I'm appreciating all the racing info from you guys. No one around here but me races a C-27. I believe there's a Catalina club on the Connecticut side of the sound, but they're a bit far. As a result, there is no one around to compare notes with.
I started out 10 years ago with a boat that was a dog, and pointed as well as the Santa Maria, but over time, I've gotten it to move faster, and point reasonably well. I got a new laminated 155% genoa last fall, and that's been a big help. I also got some good info from John Ebell, who wrote the latest article in the C-27 tech section in the Feb. 2008 issue of Mainsheet. Tom's boat is 5485 so almost a sister ship, but as I stated earlier I think the boat is in the drink till mid summer. We only allow one pull per year and he uses the unorthodox pattern of pulling mid racing season to do a bottom job. Leaving the boat in the water all winter (after doing Frostbites in Annap).
