Garhauer makes a pretty nice traveler for a lot less. You have to shim it up a
little bit from the stock one, as the car is wider and bops the rudder head
stock otherwise, but I picked up the 4' traveler at a show at their stand for a
negotiated price of $200, if I remember correctly. On my aft traveler boat, the
boom blocks are more or less directly above the traveler, so the mounting
hardware is only in tension (not bending), and the additional length of the
bolt for the shims (currently SS fender washers, until I get around to making
something pretty) doesn't present a strength issue.

Good luck. I ordered a new traveler from them for my 85 C27 on March 31. 2008.
They promised 4 to 6 weeks delivery and I have yet to receive it. I guess I
have made 10 to 12 phone calls out there the last time Tuesday. They told me
it was to ship that day. I asked them to confirm shipping to me and further
since they are now 3 + weeks late on their promised delivery, they or their
vendor should ship next business day. They did not call me back late Tuesday
as they promised. So it's back on the phone later today. They are on the left
coast.

BTW, you're looking at about $600 for their traveler.

You can go to www.catalinadirect.com and order a newer, better traveler to
replace that one, if you like.

I am the skipper of a Sea Scout ship in Norman, Oklahoma with a Catalina 27.

I have attached a pic of our worn out traveller car for the main sheet.

What are the chances that you have one of these?

The little plastic wheels are long gone...

...is that a viable course of action?

An Open Letter to the listee who posted a notice to sell parts off his "extra"
C27,

I remember a while back ( a year?) someone was offering lots of parts off
of a C27: winches, rails, lots of stuff.
I actually contacted you at the time and you responded; but, I decided
against buying whatever the part was I wrote you about. In any case, I no
longer have your email (and, thus, your address)
I am interested in knowing how you ended up from both a clearance, and a
financial point-of-view. If you (or, anyone else on the list who has done the
same) would contact me off-list at: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
I would really appreciate it.
