My '75 had her chainplate eyebolt break off WHILE SHE WAS AT THE DOCK. The
only tell tale sign of impending failure was a slight rust discoloration at
the chainplate/deck joint. Needless to say, all eyebolts have been replaced
with u-bolts.

FWIW,

Last Wed. a Cat. 30 lost her rig, here on Saginaw Bay. Winds in the high
teens gusts in the mid 20's relatively flat seas. SIDRA had just dipped our
stern, then her port aft lower pulled out of the deck..he was carrying full
150& main and beating .

Haven't spoke to the owner yet, looks like it pulled right through the deck.

The boat in question is Pepper, owned by Bob Elder and George Hughes of
Severna Park. Hull # 594. They lost the rig in 10-12knots during one of
our recent Wednesday night races on Round Bay.

Peter -

Who is that? Looks like it could be Tide, but I don't remember them loosing
their rig. Looks like it could be Rickells on the bow and the sail number
makes sense, but the green sail?
