Hey Phil, if you feel up to chatting about this, e-mail me privately please and
I'll give you my phone number. I can tell you of my misadventure down there. It
probably won't tell you anything you don't already know, but perhaps it will
prove interesting nonetheless.

The Port of LA traffic and Pt Conception are areas of concern. Any thoughts?

Pt Sur I have dialed in as 10 miles off to avoid some nasty shallows extending
5 miles off and sea mount sitting 6 – 8 miles out. Coming up from Baja I
determined a sea mount 80 feet down would still kick up some big rollers. That
Baba (35?) the Navy sunk north of Pt. Sur a few years ago was just too far
inside. If you’re not careful you can be in 300 feet of water on the 3 mile
line sailing northwest and be in 20 feet an hour later while still 3 miles out.
They shredded their sails off hurricane point and broke a mast prompting a
Mayday. When the Navy came to help the Baba got under the rescue vessel trying
to get her along side in heavy seas.
