Jim,
That vinyl sweep is factory. It HAS to be there. Imagine if you were in a blow
in rain,
the bow would be into the weather, what would keep any water out ?

  Subject: catalina27-talk: leaks

I have had some small leaks into the cabin after rain (or water hose). I
have gradually sealed things up like the mounting penetrations through the
cabin top and the windows. Now I am left with my two main leaks that won't go
away. It turns out that the water is coming over the lip under the sliding
cabin top.whatever that is called. I am taking some water on both sides
somewhat toward the front of the slide. This was after giving the boat a bath
this afternoon and hosing things down. I don't know if this hosing is any
worse than a typical rain but it is still a leak. Do any of you have
experience with this and is there any cure? The previous owner had some
weather stripping like a rubber door sweep attached to the front of that
sliding cover. That soon came off along with the front wood trim piece. I
have since restored the wood to its home but I left off the sweep since it
really didn't seem to belong there. Any words of wisdom?

  Thanks,
