Gusty,
I just painted BayBird's topsides about 2 months ago: White-over-White,
with a red boot stripe and shear stripe. I used the roll-and-tip technique to
apply Interlux primer (Topcoat?) and Brightside one-part polyurethane enamel.
It took about 3 pints of primer; one coat. Two finish coats took about 2+
quarts.
I'm pretty satisfied with the outcome. I would have preferred to have
painted in cooler weather — say, next spring; but, the need to do a few
repairs, which then required painting, necessitated doing it in late July/early
August. The 95+ temperatures made keeping a wet edge a challenge; getting the
right amount thinner was critical, and tricky.
