On my boat was using an merc 9.9 2 cycle that I bought on ebay for $300 worked 
perfect it was also electric start and charged the battery I would try to get 
in the 8 to 10 hp range since you are moving allot of boat. one of the problems 
is that a 8 hp 4 stroke will be a tight fit and well you'll need to do some 
cutting for a 10 hp if you are in generally calm waters you could get away with 
a 6hp. it all comes down to what you feel safe with best of luck.
