My boat has roller furling.  It is a godsend, BUT, it is not that fast for 
tacking.  It takes significantly longer to roll up and roll out than tacking 
does.  Plus, I find that to roll out special attention needs to be taken so as 
to keep some tension on the furling line otherwise it will foul on the drum.  
Rolling in works easiest when the sail in luffing, if any pressure is on the 
sail it is near impossible to roll in.
