Steve,

It's usually a clutch led to a 16:1 - 30:1 winch. The load on a halyard can
be quite high when you're tuning the sail to draw the draft forward. We even
went through a period of line creep through the clutch.

Subject: catalina27-talk: Working load for the main sail

Does anyone know the working load for the mainsail of a standard rig? I am
trying to figure out what kind of device to secure the mainsail halyard at
the cockpit. (i.e., clutch, cleat, etc.)

Thanks,

Steve
