I think static generation is a good idea, however, I think it is far less urgent or important than it was. I think people are going to run static mirrors of the simple site that Matin put together. I plan to release a distribution to do that sometime in the next few days. With dynamic pypi and static mirrors, I think both the dynamic and static camps can be happy.
