Good point. We want the problems to be fixed, not avoided.

One thing just struck me: We have the maintainer emails of mots
packages (although they might be outdated). We can email all of them
saying that they need to upload the packages to PyPI and why.

Here smoothness is of secondary importance to speed, though.
