Notes from Huron Street
Fall is rapidly fading and winter will soon be upon us, which means the
ALA Midwinter Meeting in Dallas is just a few weeks away. As always,
ALCTS has a wide array of activities going on during the meeting from a
fabulous symposium to interest group discussions to our member
reception, the place to see your friends and colleagues. You’ll see a
number of events highlighted in this issue of ALCTS@aGlance, but there
are many more to attend that can’t be mentioned here. Check the December
issue of the /ALCTS Newsletter Online/ (after 12/15) for more programs.
*Virtual Symposium.* For the first time, ALCTS is offering a virtual
symposium just prior to Midwinter. Launching Your Star Potential:
Leadership for Today’s Libraries will consist of five one-hour webinars,
one held each day during the week of January 9-13. It’s an event you
won’t want to miss. http://bit.ly/rYvXCd

*Coming in the Spring.* Eventhough we get focused on the newest events,
I want to draw your attention to a few things coming up this spring.
First of all, it is the season to submit your volunteer form
<http://ala.us1.list-manage.com/track/click?u=243eac82c69950a5a95c019b5&id=745cd8f347&e=d29daa5f59>
if you want to be considered for an ALCTS committee appointment.
However, you should use the volunteer form to tell us about yourself and
let us know what else you might be interested in. We have lots of
opportunities to serve ALCTS other than a committee appointment.
Preservation Week begins April 22 for more celebration of preserving our
personal and cultural heritage. Start now.

Looking to Annual Conference, watch for more information on the ALCTS
virtual preconferences. We hope that we can engage members and
nonmembers who can’t attend Annual in our terrific programming.
Have a great holiday season.

group, or be a reporter for the /ALCTS Nnewsletter Online./
We also have lot of virtual participation opportunities if you can’t

volunteers, then we’ll find a place for you. But first you need tofill
out a volunteer form and tell us what you would like to do.
