It was great to see many of you at ALA Annual in Anaheim, where the predominant theme of the PCC played out once again: Transition to RDA.

To date PCC has decided on an implementation date only for NACO participants. All authority records must be in accordance with RDA by March 31, 2013. No date has been established for the implementation of the PCC bibliographic record in accordance with RDA. The secretariat has heard that a number of institutions plan to switch completely to RDA on March 31, 2013, that is, all of their authority and bibliographic records will reflect RDA.

*Survey of BIBCO RDA Plans*

It would help the secretariat to know how many institutions will begin RDA BIBCO contributions and on what timetable. To that end, you'll receive a survey soon asking each BIBCO institution about its future plans with regard to descriptive cataloging in either AACR2 or RDA. PCC committees, tasks groups, the Secretariat, and your BIBCO colleagues already cataloging in RDA wish to support your training efforts. You can help us identify where you feel there is the greatest need for training and/or assistance.

*RDA NACO: Decided -- RDA BIBCO: A Future Option*

The PCC's early emphasis is on "bridge" RDA NACO training to assist current NACO partners to move from AACR2 to RDA.

All but a few of the BIBCO institutions are on the RDA NACO training schedule <http://www.loc.gov/catworkshop/courses/rda_naco/Scheduling/NACO%20Institutions%20and%20Funnels_Schedule.pdf>. In addition to the libraries who received authority training as part of the RDA test, 14 BIBCO partners have worked through the self-paced online RDA NACO training materials, and are contributing name authority records---or, in RDA-speak, they are establishing "Authorized Access Points." Two follow-up live webinars and record review reinforce the self-directed learning. RDA NACO skills are a requirement for NACO participation after March 30, 2013.

BIBCO libraries may determine their own timetable for RDA bibliographic cataloging after they gain proficiency in NACO. The PCC endorses the Library of Congress (LC) RDA Training Materials <http://www.loc.gov/catworkshop/RDA%20training%20materials/LC%20RDA%20Training/LC%20RDA%20course%20table.html> as "bridge" training for current BIBCO members to contribute PCC bibliographic records for monographs.

*What's Available Now?*

Training materials on the Cataloger's Learning Workshop <http://www.loc.gov/catworkshop> and PCC <http://www.loc.gov/aba/pcc> web sites provide the "bridge" toward RDA implementation (selected links below). Many policies and practices are still being discussed and clarified, and we'll do our best to announce and post RDA updates to pertinent discussion lists and web sites. Please stay alert, and let us know if we need to fill any information gaps.
