I have updated one of my Cataloging Matters podcasts, the cartoon one that is an imagined conversation between a library patron and the library catalog. http://blog.jweinheimer.net/2014/01/cataloging-matters-podcast-12-updated.ht ml This includes a link to the animation alone, without my commentary. Please share this with anyone else you think may be interested.
I discovered a few months ago that my former animation and podcast had "disappeared" and have received several requests to put it back up. I found a new tool called "GoAnimate" which is much superior to the former one. I discuss this a bit toward the end of the podcast. For those who may be curious, I wound up doing a lot of the work using a very powerful video editor called "Lightworks" which has been used for professional films and is now open source. I had never used it before, but it wasn't too difficult to use in a simple way. The main problems I had were with exporting and importing. In spite of all of the conversions, the final product is OK (I think). I am sure someone who knew more could have done a better job. The tools I used were: * GoAnimate * Export mp4 to Youtube * Audacity (to record my commentary, which I use for all of my audio podcasts) * Eyeframe (to be able to convert the mp4 for use in Lightworks) * Lightworks * Export from Lightworks to avi (for an 18 minute video, the file size was over 30 gigs!!) * ConvertAVItoMP4 (to bring the file size down) * Add MP4 to the Internet Archive * Add/change everything in my blog -- James Weinheimer [email protected] First Thus http://catalogingmatters.blogspot.com/ First Thus Facebook Page https://www.facebook.com/FirstThus Cooperative Cataloging Rules http://sites.google.com/site/opencatalogingrules/ Cataloging Matters Podcasts http://blog.jweinheimer.net/p/cataloging-matters-podcasts.html
