The Library of Congress will launch Library of Congress Medium of
Performance Thesaurus for Music (LCMPT) on February 24, 2014 when it
approves approximately 800 terms that have been agreed upon by the Music
Library Association's Bibliographic Control Committee, Subject Access
Subcommittee, and the Library of Congress. LCMPT is a stand-alone
vocabulary that provides terminology to describe the instruments, voices,
etc., used in the performance of musical works.

The terms will be available for assignment in 382 fields in both
bibliographic records and authority records for works and expressions on
February 25, 2014.

Information on searching and acquiring the authority records, making
proposals for new and revised terms, and assigning the terms may be found on
LC's Acquisitions and Bibliographic Access web site at
http://www.loc.gov/catdir/cpso/medprf-list-launch.html.
