RDA in the Wild
Sunday, February 1st
8:30-10 am
196c McCormick Place West
RDA implementation is happening throughout the world, but the standard still
faces a changing environment that includes consolidation of FRBR and its
related models, linked data, internationalization, and extension to other
cultural heritage sectors. This forum will look at how RDA is navigating
through these new challenges.
8.30-9.00: Gordon Dunsire, Chair of the JSC, will discuss how the JSC is
meeting the challenges of internationalization, linked data, and the
evolution of the FRBR models.
9.00-9.20: Kathy Glennan, ALA representative on the JSC, and Thurstan Young,
from the British Library, will report on the Jane-athon preconference event
in which delegates put RDA into action beyond the MARC environment.
9.20-9.45: Diane Hillmann, from Metadata Management Associates, will discuss
linked data issues raised by the Jane-athon and ongoing development of the
RDA Registry.
9.45-10.00: James Hennelly, from ALA Publishing, will report on upgrades to
the RDA Toolkit and efforts to involve a broader range of parties in the
development of RDA applications.
