California Library Association (CLA) Technical Services New Leader Award
The CLA Technical Services New Leader Award cultivates new leadership in the
field of library technical services. The award honors emerging leaders,
enables them to attend and actively participate in the CLA conference and
technical services annual meeting, and encourages and inspires them to
accept leadership roles within both CLA?s Technical Services Interest Group
(TSIG) and the association as a whole. A maximum of one award is given
each year. CLA?s Technical Services New Leader is presented with $500 (to
help cover conference registration, travel and lodging expense) and a
certificate of recognition. He or she is honored at CLA's Awards Gala which
takes place during our annual conference, and is enrolled into CLA?s
Mentoring Program. The CLA Technical Services New Leader Award is
sponsored by Brodart. The 2015 award application period is now open until

past year in a California library.Nominators are not required to be CLA
members. However, if a nomination is made by a non-member, the nomination

member to endorse your nomination, please contact the CLA office no later
than two weeks prior to the deadline.How to nominateNominators should submit
a statement (of no more than 350 words) identifying the nominee's
achievement(s) and briefly describing the impact of the achievement(s) on
those areas of the library profession that encompass technical services.
Criteria for selection are outstanding achievement in one or more of the
following areas:leadership in professional associations at the local, state,
regional, national, or international level;significant contributions to the
development, application, or utilization of new or improved methods,
techniques, and routines demonstrating creativity and innovation;significant
contributions to the professional literature; andsignificant studies or
research.
