Best regards, Merrilee Highlights for the OCLC Research Library Partnership Works in Progress Webinars: More, more more! What are we working on? What are you working on? This OCLC Research Library Partnership occasional webinar series is a place for us to talk about work happening in OCLC Research – we’d like to present our work informally and get feedback from you, our Partners. We’d also like this to be a venue for Partner institutions. What are you working on that everyone should know about? What input would help you move forward? <mailto:[email protected]?subject=Works%20in%20progress%20webinar> Let us know! We have two webinars scheduled and more in the works. The Partnership now spans from Western Australia to Central Europe, which means it is not easy for us to schedule at times that work for everyone. However, we always record our webinars, and we are also more than happy to either host a discussion following one of our webinars, or repeat a webinar if feasible. Please ask! Not available to attend a webinar at the scheduled time? Fill out this form, and receive an email when the recording and slides are available! <https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/GBBWXNX> Works in Progress Webinar: Stewarding New York Public Library’s Audio and Moving Image Research Collections into the Future Tuesday, April 21, 2015 12:00-1:00 pm Eastern Daylight Time / (9:00-10:00 am Pacific Daylight Time / 5:00-6:00 pm London) This session will share New York Public Library’s (NYPL) efforts to assess, prioritize and develop long-term strategies for its audio and moving image (AMI) research collections, which are among the largest and most significant in the world. They form an invaluable resource for scholars and artists, and provide the world with an irreplaceable record of its cultural heritage. In the next 10-15 years the majority of this media is at risk of loss due to degradation, unsupported media technologies, and the increasingly cost-prohibitive nature of preservation reformatting. NYPL is committed to the preservation and future availability of these collections and seeks timely, efficient strategies to build on and expand its established preservation program to meet the very real and urgent needs of these collections. Works in Progress Webinar: A Glimpse of the ILL Yeti: Stalking the Big, Big Picture of System-wide Collection Sharing Tuesday, May 5, 2015 12:00-1:00 pm Eastern Daylight Time / (9:00-10:00 am Pacific Daylight Time / 5:00-6:00 pm London) Most libraries belong to multiple resource sharing arrangements and use several different fulfillment systems, so getting a complete picture of collection sharing activity has become a Herculean task. Program Officer Dennis Massie will give an overview of how OCLC Research is analyzing five years’ worth of collection sharing activity by the eleven members of the Borrow Direct consortium to provide an overview of the borrowing and lending patterns of one very active and innovative group. Questions addressed by the study include: Is overall sharing volume going up or down? How is utilization of the various resource sharing models and venues evolving? Is there any truth to the rumor that the proliferation of e-resources in libraries is actually making interlibrary loan obsolete? This presentation will be of interest to anyone working with collections, e-resources, resource sharing, or data analysis. We’ll leave plenty of room for your questions, observations, and discussion.
