Subject: How to get more out of your 2015 NASIG Conference experience!

This year, the NASIG Conference Workshops will be held on Saturday afternoon
and Sunday morning, after the general sessions have ended. We have several
experts in their fields providing hands-on learning opportunities that will
enhance your conference experience.

For new serials catalogers or experienced catalogers looking to refresh
their understanding of RDA authority, we have a two-day workshop led by Les
Hawkins and Hien Nguyen of the Library of Congress. The workshop will
provide an overview of the basic principles underlying authority control in
the context of serials cataloging and the MARC 21 authority format.

Back by popular demand, Clair Dygert (Assistant Director for Licensing and
E-Resources, Florida Virtual Campus) will be giving the license negotiation
workshop on Saturday afternoon. A continuation from last year's
preconference, the workshop will focus on best practices for creating
agreements that protect the rights of users and libraries, as well as
developing negotiating skills and strategies and the confidence to employ
them. http://sched.co/27oE

If you have burning questions about copyright, or you've been tasked with
more of a role in vetting copyright questions at your institution, Lisa
Macklin (Director, Scholarly Communications Office, Emory University) will
be leading a workshop Saturday afternoon that will answer those questions
and get you set up to help colleagues at home understand copyright better.
The workshop will include small groups working through scenarios often
encountered by librarians. http://sched.co/27oA

Libraries have been collecting usage data for a long time, even before we
were managing digital collections. What do we do with this data? What should
we not do with this data?
Jennifer Leffler (Technical Services Manager, University of Northern
Colorado) will provide hands-on exercises and best practices on Sunday
morning for collecting and analysing use statistics, specifically those
adhering to the COUNTER standard. http://sched.co/27oH
