Work with library data? Of course you do; otherwise, why are you subscribed to
this list? ;c) So, the following will be very relevant to your interests.

First, some background - a couple years ago there was an event called Mashcat
[1] that brought together those who create and maintain library data
(catalogers and metadata folks) with their #libtech counterparts to work on all
things library data: creation, manipulation, use, and reuse by others. The even
has been dormant for a while, but it's time to dust off our cats and mashers
[2] and tackle library data issues again, especially the gaps between the
different parties involved in the library data life cycle. [3] These gaps
persist, which affect not only the ability to do our work but our ability to
serve all those who would benefit from our work.

While we start planning physical Mashcat events for later this year, Mashcat
will be holding its inaugural Twitter chat this Thursday March 26th, 2015 at
17:00 UTC (1 p.m. EDT / 10 a.m. PDT). We welcome all to participate - use the
#mashcat hashtag to track the conversation. The chat will be run like other
library Twitter chats such as #libchat and
#critlib:

 - Before and during the chat, tweet questions to the moderator (@gmcharlt).
- The chat moderator will tweet the questions out on the *#mashcat* hashtag.
For example: “Q1: What RDF triple store do you recommend?
#mashcat.
- Participants can respond to the question on the hashtag, For
example: “Q1: We use Sesame. #mashcat.

More information about the chat can be found at

any questions, please contact me offlist at [email protected] or Becky Yoose
at [email protected].

We hope to see you all there!
