---------------------------------------------------------------------- Message: 1 The ALCTS Faceted Subject Access Interest Group<http://www.ala.org/alcts/mgrps/camms/grps/ats-ccsigfsa> is seeking proposals for lightning talks on FAST at the ALA 2015 Annual Conference in San Francisco. The interest group meeting is scheduled for Saturday, June 27, 2015 from 4:30-5:30 PM. Suggested topics of interest include, but are not limited to, the following: --Brief introduction to FAST and/or the rationale for use of FAST in WorldCat --Linked data uses of FAST --Training staff, librarians, student workers, etc. to assign FAST (experiences, successes, problems, advice) --User studies on FAST --Making use of FAST headings from WorldCat records in local catalogs --Maintaining FAST in different environments as Library of Congress subject headings change --Using OCLC's FAST prototype tools, i.e., searchFAST, assignFAST, mapFAST, and/or FAST converter --Matching/auto-generating FAST from keywords, or crosswalking from other thesauri --FAST for ETDs (electronic theses and dissertations) --Conversion of LCSH or other vocabularies to FAST in digital content management systems Lightning talks should be 5-7 minutes each. The ALCTS CaMMS Catalog Form and Function Interest Group is seeking proposals for presentations at its 2015 ALA Annual meeting in San Francisco, CA. The program is scheduled for Saturday, June 27 from 3:00?4:00 p.m. and will feature two 15-20 minute presentations. Additional time will be allowed for questions and discussion. The charge of the Catalog Form and Function Interest Group: Exists to explore the evolving nature of the library catalog and its relationship to the fundamental mission and expanding services of libraries. Past topics have included: ? The discovery system as one in a set of tools which works with the catalog, journal A-Z list, etc. ? Transitioning from Summon to WorldCat Discovery ? Implementation of improved end-user services using RDA records ? Unique ways to employ newer tools and the traditional OPAC to make materials accessible to their library users ? Library?s project to hide their OPAC and use Summon as their primary discovery tool ? Library?s experience of migrating to the Ex Libris Alma platform and Primo ?
