The ALCTS CaMMS Copy Cataloging Interest Group is inviting speakers to present at its ALA Annual Meeting in San Francisco on Saturday, June 27, 2015 from 8:30am to 10:00am.
Our charge is to discuss informally common problems concerning copy cataloging of all kinds of materials (monographs, serials, audiovisual, etc.), quality control, workflow issues, staffing needs and training, and effects of cataloging rules on copy cataloging. Our focus for the Annual meeting is how libraries approach and define standards of quality for copy cataloging production. Suggested topics include: Vendor-provided records - analysis of quality, level of editing, authority control, and ongoing maintenance Staff training to recognize quality records and improve records that do not meet local guidelines Documenting local standards for record quality Please email proposal abstracts to the co-chairs by June 12, 2015.
