Dear PCC Community, I am very pleased to announce the results of the recent elections to the PCC Policy Committee (PoCo), as well as some other transitions in PCC leadership.
. The following representatives will serve three-year terms on PoCo, beginning on Oct. 1, 2015: o BIBCO Representative: Matthew Beacom (Head of Technical Services, Beinecke Rare Book and Manuscript Library, Yale University) o CONSER Representative: Diane Boehr (Head, Cataloging and Metadata Management Section, National Library of Medicine). . I would like to thank Betsy Simpson (Chair, Cataloging and Metadata Department, George A. Smathers Libraries, University of Florida) for her service to PCC. Betsy will be concluding her term as a BIBCO Representative to PoCo at the end of September, and has provided exceptional guidance to the PCC during a time of many changes. . At the end of September 2015, Becky Culbertson will complete her second and final term as Chair of the Standing Committee on Standards (SCS). Becky's service to the PCC has been extraordinary, and her leadership was essential in successfully bringing PCC through its transition to RDA. We know she will continue to be a valuable expert resource for the PCC, SCS, and the entire cataloging community. Becky will be a recipient of the 2015 Ulrich <http://www.ala.org/news/press-releases/2015/03/culbertson-and-collins-recip ients-ulrich-s-serials-librarianship-award> 's Serials Librarianship Award at ALA Annual later this month. So not only do we get to thank Becky for her service, we get to congratulate her on this much-deserved and well-timed award! . The PCC Steering Committee has appointed Chiat Naun Chew (Director, Cataloging and Metadata Services, Cornell University) and Ed Jones (Associate Director, Assessment and Technical Services, National University Library) to serve as Co-Chairs of SCS from Oct. 2015-Sept. 2018. . The PCC Steering Committee has also appointed Michelle Durocher (Head of Metadata Management for the Harvard Library, Harvard University) to complete Chiat Naun Chew's term on the Policy Committee from Oct. 2015-Sept. 2017. . Following the retirement of Charles Wilt as Executive Director of ALCTS, the ALCTS Board has appointed Nathan Putnam (Head of Metadata Services, University of Maryland) to serve as ALCTS Advisor to PCC. Nathan will serve a three year term, beginning July 1, 2015. . Kate Harcourt (Director, Original and Special Materials Cataloging, Columbia University Libraries) will begin her term as Chair of the Program for Cooperative Cataloging on Oct. 1, 2015. Please join me in thanking those who have served, and welcoming a wonderful slate of new leadership into the PCC. ---Chris. ___________________________________________ Christopher Cronin Chair, Program for Cooperative Cataloging Director of Technical Services University of Chicago Library 1100 E. 57th Street Chicago, IL 60637 Phone: 773-702-8739 Fax: 773-702-3016 E-mail: <mailto:[email protected]> [email protected] ___________________________________________
