BIBFRAME Update at ALA in San Francisco

When: Sunday, June 28, from 10:30 to noon
Where: Moscone Convention Center, Room 2008 (W).

With the active interest in the community in both linked data and BIBFRAME,
LC thought it was a good time to hear some perspectives of several important
system suppliers in the library community. The vendors represented on this
panel are each looking for how they will both continue to sustain and
improve the systems they have in libraries and also plan how they can take
advantage of the linkages that are increasingly going to be included in our
data. Thus the panel will focus on their views of linked data, and in
particular BIBFRAME, and their roadmaps for near term product development in
those areas.

- Eric Miller, President, Zepheira

- Leif Pedersen, Senior Vice President of Product Management, R&D, and
Marketing, Innovative Interfaces

- Ido Peled, Vice President, Solutions and Marketing, Ex Libris

- Sheridan Richey, Vice President, Product Management and Software
Development, SirsiDynix

- Dan Specht, Chief Financial Officer of Atlas Systems

The session will open with as update on the Library of Congress BIBFRAME
pilot:
- Sally McCallum, Library of Congress
- Beacher Wiggins, Library of Congress

Telling Your Story: Why Technical Services Matters LLAMA/SASS Technical
Services and Systems Committee, Co-sponsored with ALCTS Advocacy & Policy
Committee
Librarians and staff need to know how to talk to administrators and leaders
within their organizations. It is especially important in today?s ever
changing library environment for technical services librarians and staff to
find effective, meaningful ways to share information about the work they are
doing and how that work supports the mission of the library and/or larger
organization. This program seeks to show those working in technical
services how they can tell their story. Attendees will be encourage to
share their own stories.

 Saturday, June 27, 2015
1:00-2:30 pm PST
Moscone Convention Center ? 125N, Yosemite A Five lucky attendees will take
home a copy of ?Organizational Storytelling for Librarians: Using Stories
for Effective Leadership? by Kate Marek.

Dear ALA Annual Conference Attendees,

ALCTS News is looking for volunteers to report on ALCTS preconferences,
programs, and forums. If you're attending one of the following programs,
please let me know if you would be interested in writing a report for
publication in ALCTS News. I also welcome suggestions for reports on other
ALA events that would be of interest to the ALCTS membership.

Reports should summarize the information presented and any particularly
interesting points raised. Report length can be in the range of 400-600
words, but this is flexible.

An abbreviated list of all programs and forums is below; complete
descriptions are attached. Please reply soon and let me know if you're
interested. Please respond to me directly, not the list :)!

Thank you!
