Linked Data in the Cloud: OCLC’s Experiments with New Models of Resource
Description describes OCLC's efforts to help increase the visibility of library
collections on the Web through the creation of library linked data—moving from
a Web of documents to a Web of data. The book focuses on the conceptual and
technical challenges involved in publishing linked data derived from
traditional library metadata. Modeling data in a form that the broader Web
understands will position libraries for success.

Learning Commons Benchmarks report
A new report by the Primary Research Group says that about a quarter of
colleges use outside grants to help finance learning commons. More than 45% of
colleges with 10,000+ enrolled students also include some form of outside space
in their learning commons. And the smaller the college in terms of total
enrollment, the more likely it is to supply tutors in the learning commons.

Get time back to focus on priorities
Like many public libraries, the Onondaga County Public Library system has had
to do more with less. The loss of dedicated cataloging staff, however,
coincided with a growing need for important local resources. Access to
cooperative cataloging with high match rates helped them bridge that gap.
