Special Collections Cataloging and Metadata Librarian
The University of California San Diego Library seeks applications from
highly motivated, innovative, and proactive library professionals to join
the UC San Diego Library as the Special Collections Cataloging and Metadata
Librarian in the Metadata Services Program.
Responsibilities of the Position
Reporting to directors of both programs (70% MS, 30% SC&A), the Special
Collections Cataloging and Metadata Librarian is responsible for leading the
efforts and directing the work of 1.5 FTE (permanent) and .5 (temp) FTE to
describe and provide access to Special Collections rare materials through
cataloging according to current national standards. Working in close
collaboration with members of the Digital Object Metadata Management Unit in
MS as well as the Digital Library Development Program, the Special
Collections Cataloging and Metadata Librarian will provide expertise on the
unique needs of Special Collections material description.
