The following message from Dominique Bourassa, chair of CC:DA, outlines the
process that CC:DA will follow in the coming weeks to review and discuss RDA
revision proposals and discussion papers submitted by other groups. I'll
also forward a separate message that identifies the first five proposals for
review.

As the PCC liaison to CC:DA, I will be happy to post comments from PCC
members on the CC:DA blog for any of these proposals. Please send your
comments to me at [email protected].

Subject: [rules] CC:DA review of JSC proposals

CC:DA,

We are now entering what is probably the busiest time of the year for CC:DA:
we must discuss and authorize ALA responses to proposals and discussion
papers that were submitted to the JSC by other groups and will be discussed
by the JSC at the November meeting.

This year, we are expecting to respond to 28 proposals. Kathy asked us to
complete this task by Friday, September 18. I will follow a method similar
to that used by our former chair, Robert Rendall, last year. Each Friday, I
will assign a group of roughly five proposals on which we will focus. The
following Thursday afternoon, I will invite a motion to authorize Kathy to
prepare an ALA response based on the comments that you have posted during
the week, with an actual vote on Friday. CC:DA voting members, remember to
let me know if you will be unavailable to vote at any time between now and
September 18.

Richard Guajardo, our webmaster, is in the process of posting separate blog
posts for each proposal and discussion paper on the CC:DA website
(http://alcts.ala.org/ccdablog/). if you click on the Working Docs tab, you
will see a list of the documents posted so far. You can also access that
list directly at: http://alcts.ala.org/ccdablog/?cat=33

All documents are open for comment as soon as they are posted on the blog.
You are free to browse the list and begin posting your comments,
suggestions, reactions. But please, do focus on the weekly group of
documents assigned, and do review and post comments on all of the proposals
and discussions papers. Kathy needs your comments to prepare adequate ALA
responses. To leave a comment, log in to the website and use the "Leave a
Reply" box that appears at the bottom of the post. If you are having
difficulties leaving a reply or if you cannot see your comments when you are
logged out, please contact Richard at <mailto:[email protected]>
[email protected] to let him know.

List subscribers who are not CC:DA members or liaisons: you are always
welcome to contribute to our discussion by sending comments to a voting
member, your appropriate liaison, or directly to me. We will glady post your
comments on our blog. Our roster at
http://alcts.ala.org/ccdablog/?page_id=77 lists the email addresses of our
current members and liaisons.

I will announce the first group of proposals in a separate message.

Thank you in advance. Kathy and I are looking forward to reading your
comments on all 28 proposals and discussion papers.

Dominique
