This new report provides an overview of user-behavior research to the
library community as it thinks about new ways to provide user-centered
services. Compiled and co-authored by OCLC Senior Research Scientist Lynn
Silipigni Connaway, Ph.D., the new compilation represents more than a decade
of collaborative user studies research.

Today, 68% of U.S. adults have a smartphone, up from 35% in 2011, and tablet
computer ownership has edged up to 45% among adults, according to newly
released survey data from the Pew Research Center. At the same time,
e-reader device ownership has fallen, and ownership rates of MP3 players and
computers have stayed roughly where they were a decade ago.

A survey of librarians participating in the OCLC Research Library
Partnership reveals that the two most important topics on Web archiving are
developing metadata guidelines to bridge the archival and bibliographic
traditions and conducting user studies to determine what users want and how
they find and navigate what is available.

Only five forums remain in this year's schedule. They are in Atlanta,
Georgia; Lansing, Michigan; Washington, D.C.; Philadelphia, Pennsylvania;
and Hillsboro, Oregon. These day-long meetings are hosted by member
libraries and provide an opportunity to learn from colleagues as well as
discuss your library's needs with OCLC staff members. All are welcome to
attend. Join us at a forum near you.

In the wake of the racially motivated violence in Charleston, South
Carolina, USA, scholars and librarians collaborated on a bibliography to
inform ongoing conversations about race relations. The vision is that by
sharing knowledge in this way, new understanding, approaches and change can
