Hello everyone, As you might have heard, the RDA Steering Committee has a placed a moratorium on adding new relationship designators to RDA. Here's the statement from the RSC 2015 Meeting Outcomes:
The JSC put a moratorium on adding new relationship designators other than those already proposed during 2015 until the JSC Relationship Designators Working Group had finished its tasks of preparing a general paper on designators and a set of guidelines for proposing new designators. (http://www.rda-rsc.org/sites/all/files/RSC-Outcomes-2015.pdf) While the RSC does not give an exact date as to when the moratorium will be lifted, the Standing Committee on Standards is hopeful that the above conditions will be met by the time the RSC meets again in November 2016 and the moratorium will be lifted then. In the meantime, PCC members can continue to send proposals to SCS through the web form located here: http://www.loc.gov/aba/pcc/scs/RD-Requests.html SCS will continue to evaluate them, submit the approved ones when we are able, and, depending on the forthcoming guidelines, adjust the proposals as necessary. While this will be an inconvenience for the next year or so, the new guidelines should shed light on the whole process and make proposing and applying relationship designators much easier.
