On Behalf Of Geisler, Linda The following may be of interest to those
attending ALA Annual Orlando:

Creating a Model License for the Purchase of Electronic Resources at the
Library of Congress / Linda Geisler ALA Annual Orlando Library of Congress
Booth, Exhibits Hall June 26, 11:00-11:30 am

I'll be giving a short presentation regarding a project at the Library of
Congress to create a model license for the acquisitions of electronic
resources. The library has always been interested in having a "Model
License" for electronic resources to improve the process of acquiring
electronic materials. A project group was put together to research and
create a draft license for use by acquisitions staff at the library. The
presentation discusses the approach taken by the group to develop the
license, areas of importance in the license for our work, as well an update
on the current status of the license. Plan to attend the presentation to
learn more about licensing issues. I hope to see some of you there.

Cataloging Videorecordings Defensively
Jay Weitz, OCLC

?Cataloging Videorecordings Defensively? is not a cataloging workshop, per
se, but has been designed to give some background to how OCLC?s Duplicate
Detection and Resolution (DDR) software deals with bibliographic records,
both generally and for videorecordings. It should help catalogers use MARC
21 and the instructions in both RDA and AACR2 to the best advantage in
making sure that DDR performs appropriately when encountering a
bibliographic record for a videorecording that is legitimately unique
according to the descriptive conventions.
