RDA Board were delighted to see that Gordon Dunsire, Chair of the RDA Steering
Committee, was acknowledged with an IFLA Medal in the closing ceremony of the
2016 World Library and Information Congress in Columbus, Ohio last week. The
medal is awarded to international librarians who have made an outstanding
contribution to their field, and Gordon was recognised for his distinguished
service to IFLA and international librarianship, advancing the field of
bibliographic data, linked data, and the semantic web.

RDA Board also would like to extend their congratulations to two other members
of the community acknowledged at the ceremony:

* Dorothy McGarry was awarded the IFLA scroll of appreciation for her
distinguished service to IFLA and global librarianship especially through an
outstanding commitment to advancing cataloguing, classification and indexing
standards and practices.

* The New Professionals Special Interest Group, convened by Maria Violeta
Bertolini, was awarded the IFLA Professional Unit Communication Award.
