It didn't make sense to me (& in one case had race-condition,
don't recall specifics)

As I said, I don't recall specifics. And it's quite possible it
was developer error while tackling the learning curve. And also
why I was hoping to get some clarification (eg. the above), I
realized it was possible I taught myself some foundation
concepts which were not accurate.
