Dear Friends.
Here is the latest update on Ben. I know there are a lot of you
that want me to update you on his progress, so I try to do it as
often as I can. Sometimes I don't get all of the updates sent on to
you, but I try to do it often enough, so you can see how he is improving.
I am also asking for prayers for the soul of one of our parish
members who committed suicide this week, and his funeral is today. He
was suffering from depression, and just got divorced. ( and from what
I understand ) he didn't want . Please, keep his family, his Mom, Dad
and brother, and sister in your prayers. Thank you in advance for all
your prayers.
Also wanted to add that it will be a year, on Tues. the 23 of Sept.
since Ben was in the truck accident that has so changed Ben, and his
family's lives.
God's Blessings to all of you, my friends in prayer.

Many reasons to be thankful this week:
* Ben's vision is very good. We took him to Madison this week and
they did a visual evoke potential test. The doctor put probes on the
back of his head and hooked the other end up to a scan. Ben was shown
many different pictures/images. The scan measured if Ben's brain had
a reaction to the images and it did. His left eye is a little
delayed, but his overall vision is good. We are still uncertain as to
what his brain is telling him that he sees, but we're going with the
good and adjusting his therapy to include visual cues.
* Ben's rehab appointment went very well. The doctor told us to keep
doing what we're doing. It's a slow process but he's definitely
making progress.
* The 72 hour EEG showed no signs of any siezure activity.
* Today, Jim was doing some therapy with Ben and Ben actually took 4
steps. The great thing was that Jim was just standing with Ben and
Ben kept moving his right leg. Jim told him that if he wanted to walk
so bad that he should take a step. Ben gradually moved his left leg
and in the end ended up taking about 4 steps!!!! Now we just have to
get him to do it again. His trunk control continues to get stronger everyday.
Ben started school last week. He goes every Tuesday and Friday for
about 2 hours. This is about all they he can handle at this time. I
think that he enjoys getting out of the house and getting back to see
his friends. His friends are encouraged to go to his room and read
with him or play games.
As for me, getting back to school has it ups and downs. I love
teaching and being with the kids again, but it's hard being away from
home and seeing some of his firsts all over again. Luckily, his
nurses take lots of pictures for me! It just makes me treasure my
time at home all the more.
Please continue to pray for Ben doing more on command, using his
voice, and finding the right therapists to come into our home and
work with Ben. We're still fighting for aid and what's best for Ben.
We appreciate all of your prayers and thoughts. God Bless you all.
Hugs,
Kim

Lord, may everything we do begin with Your inspiration and continue
with Your help,
so that all our prayers and works may begin in You and by You be happily ended.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen.
