September 22, 2008 Poinsettias and Planned Parenthood
You may not be aware that the largest producers of Poinsettias, Paul Ecke and family, are staunch supporters of Planned Parenthood. This family has made their millions by selling us Poinsettias to decorate our churches, while sending hundreds of thousands of their profits to their favorite cause – keeping abortion "safe" and legal. Now is the time when churches are ordering Poinsettias for Christmas. I feel word should be spread throughout the Diocese of this evil.. It is not enough to boycott plants from Ecke farms. The family has bred and owns the rights to many species of Poinsettias and when those species are raised on other farms money still flows to the Ecke family. Luckily, there are alternatives. There are two breeders of Poinsettias with clean hands. Fischer and Drummen. Last year our church bought Red Dragon and Whitestar Poinsettias bred by Fischer and they were beautiful, strong and long-lasting. There is no reason to give money to the Ecke family to decorate our churches. Please pass this information to anyone who can inform our churches and help them make good decisions. It is still early enough so that churches can insist that their Poinsettias come from growers that allow us to decorate our churches with a clear conscience. I emailed Mr. Ecke upon learning about this earlier this year and requested he cease killing children with the profits made on those intending to celebrate the birth of Christ with his products. He did not respond to the email. I spend time everyday contemplating that sacrifice as part of living the first commandment, and, as such, have it in the forefront of my mind at all times. Christ clearly explained that He came that we all might have life and have it more abundantly; not just on the temporal plain, but for all eternity. No one is excluded from His infinite love, nor does He place higher value on His creatures at any particular stage of life, although perhaps one might make the argument for children, as saints throughout time have relayed that children are His very favorites. So, I'm sure you can imagine, I was shocked and dismayed to learn that the company who is the primary producer of poinsettias in this country actually uses its profits to murder the unborn (God's favorites). Unfamiliar with your faith background, please allow me to explain that there are 9 ways to participate in the sin of another, and they are: By counsel By command By consent By provocation By praise or flattery By concealment By partaking By silence By defense of the ill done And so, by funding abortions, you are indistinguishable in terms of guilt from the abortionist who cuts off the innocent baby's arms and legs, without anesthesia, in order to expedite it's death and extraction from the place it should have been safest in the world; its own mother's womb. I want to encourage you, in the name of the Most High God, to beg Him for His mercy on your soul, His forgiveness, and turn from your lifestyle of murder to one of abundant life.
