Last Updated: 12:54AM BST 10 Oct 2008 Two batches of Siberian ginseng injections were recalled, the official Xinhua news agency said, after six people suffered bad reactions in Yunnan province. Three of them later died in hospital. An official in Heilongjiang province, where the drug was made up, said all the batches with problems had been found and recalled. "We started on Tuesday morning to recall the products that had been sold by the company but not used by hospitals," said Heilongjiang's economic development head Guo Laibin to Xinhua. "All the medicine is on the way back." Siberian ginseng, sometimes used to treat conditions associated with weak liver and kidneys, heart disease and nervous exhaustion, is commonly used in Chinese herbal medicine. Now, all sales of the drug have been suspended in both provinces and Wandashan Pharmaceutical company is under investigation. China is still reeling from the contamination of large quantities of baby milk which left at least four infants dead and hospitalised tens of thousands of others. More than 10,000 children remain in hospital.
